IEEI expert highlight – Dr. Shawna Thomas

IEEI expert highlight – Dr. Shawna Thomas

Dr. Shawna Thomas is an Instructional Assistant Professor in Computer Science & Engineering at Texas A&M University.

In engineering education, her research interests include fostering inclusion through building empathy, truly collaborative teamwork, and the role of peer feedback and evaluation in learning. In computer science, she is interested in developing randomized motion planning algorithms that can be applied to many different areas such as: mobile robots, virtual prototyping, computational biology and computational neuroscience. 

Additionally, Dr. Thomas has received numerous awards including, IDEATE Faculty Fellow, Center for Teaching Excellence, TAMU, Fall 2021-Spring 2022, Scaling Instructional Excellence for Student Success, NASH-ACUE, Fall 2020-Spring 2021, and many others.
