Dr. Saira Anwar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Multidisciplinary Engineering

Dr. Saira Anwar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Multidisciplinary Engineering, received the Apprentice Faculty Grant award at the 2022 ASEE Annual Conference and Exposition held in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In addition to the stipend for travel to the ASEE conference, the award includes a mentorship program for engineering education research.

As part of the Educational Research and Methods (ERM) Division of ASEE, the Apprentice Faculty Grant Program (AFG) encourages and honors promising emerging engineering education scholars with the potential for substantial contributions to the community. Areas of substantial contribution should align with ERM’s mission and include 1) research on learning, 2) research on methods of instruction, 3) dissemination of knowledge on education and learning, 4) the development of teaching procedures and materials, and 5) improving instruction evaluation.

“I am humbly honored to receive the Apprentice Faculty Grant of 2022. The recognition emphasizes the potential of my research being meaningful to bring change and innovation in engineering education research and methods. I am delighted and encouraged to continue my work and engage in evidence-based, impactful research practices and scholarship,” said Dr. Anwar.

Dr. Anwar received her Ph.D. in Engineering Education from Purdue University, and her current research focuses on assessing the effectiveness of various instructional strategies on student academic success and motivation.
